NC Education Lottery: A Cinematic Look at Community Impact

Highlighting the positive impact of lottery funds with authentic, local storytelling.

For over two years, Hometeam has partnered with the North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) to create cinematic, character-driven stories that reveal the real-world impact of lottery funding on education across the state. While many North Carolinians know about the lottery itself, few are aware of how its proceeds directly support public education—funding everything from new school construction and pre-K programs to college scholarships and support staff employment. Through intimate interviews and authentic visuals, our team—working alongside directors like Jamie Young and Brandon Bray, and our trusted local crews—has crafted a statewide series of films that bring these stories to life.

Each story focuses on a real person affected by NCEL funding, filmed across four regions of the state to reflect the full scope of its impact. These cinematic-documentary pieces are simple yet powerful, designed to raise awareness and build a deeper connection between the lottery and the communities it serves. By staying grounded in humanity and realism, Hometeam helps the NCEL communicate not just what it does—but why it matters.
