Celebrating 5 Years of Hometeam Global Production.

We’re thrilled to celebrate a major milestone in Hometeam’s story - our big 5th birthday! 

It’s not lost on us that it’s a rare thing to get this far with any business, especially during so many ongoing, never-stopping shifts and changes in our industry (and the world in general). When we reflect back, we can only say we’ve gotten to this point because of the quality people we’ve surrounded ourselves with. Our core team, our local crews, our lead creatives, and our clients have all united, tenaciously, around Hometeam’s core mission to improve production. And we’re mission-driven to prove that there’s a way for client, crew, and our company to win-win-win on the way to making great work.

Mission-Driven From Day One

It's been a true adventure since our Hometeam beginnings. Forged in the early days of 2020, just as the world went on a pandemic pause, we reached back to our experiences in remote production and stepped up with a timely solve. As we looked around at our filmmaker friends stuck at home with closets full of amazing gear, it struck us that the answer was a local approach that tapped a community of creators across the U.S. and around the globe. 

We asked ourselves "How can we continue to do what we love and stay connected with our filmmaking friends and communities?" and Hometeam was the answer.

As the pandemic passed, and the urgent need for remote production subsided, we realized that what remained was a model that supported a better approach to production. Informed by years of working on-set ourselves (as DPs, Directors, Producers), we identified the collective pain points we’ve all experienced in our careers: long hours on set, travel time away from family, long winding timelines… and we set out to solve them. 

The path forward became Hometeam’s signature model that films locally on a global scale. Working with local crews in every U.S. state and 150 countries, we can streamline production (including timeline and budget efficiencies) while simultaneously advocating for a crew-first filmmaking philosophy, mutual respect, and fun vibes on set. We can nearly eliminate our industry’s biggest source of pollution (CO2 from air travel) And with this global-scale production approach, our clients are able to unlock more local authenticity and stories without boundaries. Win-win-win. 

We firmly believe that everyone should win. And we’ve found that wins all around, for production, crews, clients alike, are possible. And the work turns out pretty rad too!

  • The incredible honor of working every day with our core team of EPs and Producers at Hometeam made up of some of our best friends and favorite collaborators we had the pleasure of working with throughout our careers. Just click here and see the people that make Hometeam run.
  • Building Hometeam’s global “Crewmmunity” - Discovering, curating, and working with thousands of talented filmmakers around the globe. It never ceases to amaze us the level of talent all over the globe! We built a crew-facing page and a revamped filmmaker database that plots some 5,000 hand-picked collaborators on a global map… And we love calling so many of these filmmakers friends and hanging out in person on set and at local happy hours.   • Winning work from some amazing world-class brands and agencies. We pinch ourselves when we count brands like Google, Apple, Meta, IBM, L’Oreal, Walmart, Chick-fil-A, Verizon, and so many others among our best clients. 
  • Working on some well-known streaming series like NBC’s ‘The Voice’ and ‘American Song Contest’ (56 shoots in 2 months!) and shows for Apple TV+, Discovery, and HBO… and meeting some of our heroes like Jason Sudeikis, Chance the Rapper, Chris Stapleton, Olivia Munn, and Martha Stewart to name a few.
  • Being named a “Fast Company Most Innovative Company” in 2023 - with a feature article in Fast Company magazine - and being invited to speak at the Fast Company Innovation Festival. 
  • Awards! Hardware! Who doesn’t love some shiny trophies? We’ve been fortunate to win a Grand Clio for our campaign with Snap X Kygo. Emmy nominations for Hannah Waddingham (Apple TV+) and The Voice. A couple Webbys and some very nice media shout outs along the way. 
  • You may not realize, but flying crews and gear around the map is the production industry’s biggest portion of its carbon footprint. We’re proud to say that, by shooting local, we reduced our carbon footprint to the tune of 150+ metric tons of carbon just in the past couple years.
  • Creating an anthem film “Chasing the Same Sun” - A dream project, led by Director Chris Bourke and featuring some of our favorite crews around the world, that honors the people behind the lens and celebrates our shared love for the production adventure.
  • Creating Hometeam Post - or what we like to call “Post-Production on Cloud 9” - led by the talented Dan Tundis who pulled together some of the world’s most innovative cloud-based tech, and the team to run it, to create a post workflow that keeps up with global scale production.
  • A fully imagined brand vision that matches the spirit and values of Hometeam. Brought to life in collaboration with our homies Trust Design Shop and supported through the years by Butler, Erik Loften, Film Pin Society, Trust Printshop (aka RealThread), and David Sanden we’re creating a true filmmaker-forward lifestyle brand with plenty of merch and goodies to go around.

And while every journey has its growing pains, our team has tirelessly adapted to new challenges, embraced innovative tools, pushed stylistic boundaries, brought together ever-more-talented filmmakers and continually pushed ourselves to level-up the content we create.

We couldn’t do this without our Crewmmunity!
